Spiritual Journey

Moving Forward!

After choosing a distinct spiritual path to follow, elements of the religious tradition need to be implemented. Of course, the various elements are based upon the chosen path. However, some constants include some form of connection with the spiritual world through the use of meditation, holy writings, and rituals.

First, there is the use and study of scriptures, for instance what Christians call the Bible and Muslims, the Koran. Great value is placed upon words in scriptures. For the Christian, there is the claim of divine inspiration which led to the Bible being "without error" or inerrant. Muslims claim the Koran is also inspired, but only in its original language. Scriptures reflect moral code through stories, direct teaching, and other genres.

For me and many others, the most logical path which displayed the greatest love and compassion, the path which offers both words and the archeology to back it up, the path whose founder claimed to be divine, is Christianity. Christianity's claims and support are both weighty. Further, the tradition and well thought out systematic theology usually places to rest any arguments made in haste.

How then, would one move forward in a Christian walk? First, for the Christian, the walk is the important aspect. The emphasis of Christianity is not a set of rules to make life more difficult or boring. The relationship is the priority, a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. This relationship flows out of a combination of the study the Scriptures, prayer, and service. Browse over to the Tools for Life section for more guidance on living out a Christian relationship.
