UMT Mission

UMT Training

We keep current and contribute. Much like other soldiers, our training incorporates current doctrine with what lessons have come from the battlefield. Learning from mistakes and adjusting procedures to better adapt to the environment are common themes throughout UMT training. This means we learn from others and give feedback when appropriate. The greater community of UMTs is better served when we contribute our experiences. We prioritize analyzing what we do, and implementing changes to make what we do better.

We respect and seek out our supervisor's guidance. Our technical "chain of command" allows us to operate under guidance and gives us training which is relevant to our situations. Valuable insight coupled with a responsibility for subordinates creates an environment of learning. Regular training and planning sessions allow for constant realignment and assessment of goals and strategies to provide religious support.

Mottos of the Chaplaincy

  • Pro Deo et Patria - For God and Country
  • Nurture the living, Care for the wounded, Honor the dead
  • Bringing God to soldiers and soldiers to God

Although these are not all official mottos of the Army chaplaincy, they have resounded throughout the corps and give an indication into what drives the UMT.

Values of the Chaplaincy

  • Spirituality
  • Accountability
  • Compassion
  • Religious Leadership
  • Excellence
  • Diversity
The SACRED model of values guides UMT actions as well. Values are principles, standards, or a quality which is considered worthwhile or desirable. The Chaplain Corps has endorsed the SACRED model to recognize key qualities for UMTs to prioritize.
