Online Support

Online Support offers links to a variety of helpful websites. Below each link is a brief description and areas I found to be helpful while visiting.

www.armyfamiliesonline.org

This site is a great one stop for a monthly newsletter covering a variety of topics as it relates to Army living, a good explanation of the deployment cycle, and many forums (although they are new and less active at the time of this writing). More than $200 million has been earmarked for family programs this year so this and other family friendly resources are going to be popping up everywhere. Families are important, and it's nice to see the Army recognize and fund it.

Military.com

This site is probably the standard by which other military information sites are judged. This matured and robust site covers many of the questions and concerns military members and their families face. Gloria really likes the forums on this site. She received a basic introduction to TRICARE (health benefits) and got much needed advice regarding our future. I particularly like the Credit and Debt area of the site.

www.myarmylifetoo.com

MyArmyLifeToo.com highlights more kid friendly areas than many military sites do. Clearly, Army Community Services (ACS) recognizes the tension surrounding deployments, moving, improving family life skills, money matters, and family career help .

www.emilitary.org | The Military Family Network

www.emilitary.org provides similar resources available elsewhere with the addition of creating your own blog. The highlight of the site resides in users helping other users in the forums area. Once it matures, this site will really be a good resource for finding businesses which are military friendly (however, it could be more user friendly if organized by zip code rather than strictly by service). Another highlight is the inclusion of a FREE flower program for families of deployed soldiers.

Military OneSource

There are so many great aspects of this site, it's hard to decide which to highlight. However, since retirement and financial planning is a big issue with me, I strongly encourage a visit to the Retirement Planning area for articles and resources.
*NOTE: Registration may be required to view some articles, however, it is definitely worth it!

A related site a mental health assesment which determines if you have any symptoms which are consistent with condition or concern where further evaluation might be recommended.

CinCHouse.com

CinCHouse.com has a multitude of first hand information for military life. The forums are very active and there are plenty of quick-read articles on family time, deployment, relocation, and many more areas. Concerning relocation, the "Unofficial Scoop" areas of each base and post listed offers a great on-location view. The site is sponsored by USAA and even incorporates an area for groups to create a web-page.

Suggestions for additional websites to be added to the list should be sent to us by way of the Contact Us page. Please include what makes the site unique and briefly how it will help others. Thanks for your suggestions!
